Explore the spaceStone counters, copper pots, a wood-burning stove. The kitchen at La Casa di Aldo is built for lingering — a slow breakfast, a long lunch, the unhurried preparation of something good.
Explore the spaceOpen to the sky and the rolling Piemontese hills. The terrace is where mornings begin — espresso in hand, the light still low, the vineyards just waking on the horizon.
Explore the spaceSet among lavender and rosemary, flanked by raw stone paving and sun loungers. Its water is the same blue as the Piemontese sky in August. No sound except water and wind.
Explore the spaceA freestanding lodge at the garden's edge, built in the Finnish tradition. Birchwood benches, kiuas stone heater. One small window to the vines. Built for nothing but being present.
Explore the spaceFour bedrooms sleep eight, two of them with their own bathroom. Each is composed around silence and the quality of rest — hand-washed linen, a mattress built for deep sleep, and the particular light of a Piedmontese morning.
The floor is oak parquet, its warmth underfoot a grounding sensation from the first step of the day. An oak wardrobe, a reading chair by the window, a small desk for writing. Nothing superfluous.
Sleep here and you wake to birdsong, the smell of dew on stone, and the slow unfurling of a Piemontese morning with no particular reason to hurry.
Cooking at La Casa di Aldo is not a task but a pleasure. The kitchen was designed around the idea that a great meal begins long before the fire is lit — in the sourcing, the touching, the unhurried preparation of good things.
A wood-burning stove anchors the room. Stone counters worn smooth by use. A tall window above the sink looks out over the herb garden. Everything is exactly where it should be.
We stock the pantry on arrival with Ligurian olive oil, Piemontese pasta, a bottle of Barbera d'Asti, and whatever the season gives at the market in Ovada.
The terrace is the fulcrum of outdoor life at La Casa di Aldo. Paved in reclaimed stone, it faces the vineyard rows of Monferrato from the crest of the hill — a 180° panorama of light and agriculture.
A long oak table seats eight for dinner under the stars. By morning it holds a single espresso cup. The terrace changes character with the hour: cool and still at dawn, golden by noon, deeply shadowed and fragrant with thyme in the evening.
There is a small wood-burning firepit at the garden's edge for evenings when the light lingers and no one is ready to go inside.
Newly built, the pool was designed to disappear into the landscape — its water the colour of the sky, its edges flush with the stone terrace. Beyond it, the vineyards and the Alps fill the horizon. It faces south, holding the sun from early morning until dusk.
Flanked by lavender and rosemary, the pool area is a place of genuine silence. Two sun loungers, a cold-water outdoor shower, and nothing else — because nothing else is needed.
The pool is open from 1 May to 15 October. It has no safety barrier; a removable fence can be installed on request for families with young children — please mention this when you inquire.
A freestanding, wood-fired sauna stands at the garden's edge, built in the Finnish tradition, with a panoramic window framing the vineyards and the Alps. Beside it, a wood-fired hot tub, set to the same view.
The ritual is simple: heat, breathe, step out into the cold air, lower into the tub, look at the sky. Repeat as needed.
Birch branch whisks, organic essential oils, and cold linen towels are provided. The sauna can be requested at any time during your stay.
